Heaven's Handyman

My grandpa is a worker. He is a laborer, and almost lives outside wearing his beaten up ball caps. But his work doesn't take away from family time. If he needs to do something outside, but wants to be with family, he'll take them out with him. Heck, he even made a go-kart track near his house for his goofy grand-kids to entertain themselves on. We crashed a few times, but no worries. It won't take long for him to fix the vehicle. My grandpa is a lover. He always greets me with a "How's my girl?" and a huge smile when I walk into the room, and doesn't seem to mind when I about tackle him with a hug. He also doesn't seem to mind when my siblings and I steal a couple of his Twizzlers and square cookies Grandma makes him. My grandpa has a great sense of humor. He's quiet, but pretty much every comment he makes puts a smile on my face because it's always funny. For example, he told me this one day while we were waiting for our food at a restaurant on a Sunday morning.
"Hey Keeli, have you heard of the book Under the Bleachers?"
"Um.. no?" I answered, pretty confused by the question.
His reply is what made me about pee my pants. "Oh that's too bad. Well the author is Seemore Butts."
We laughed together for a little while and then he told me another joke, similar to that one.
"Oh hey, maybe you've heard of the book Yellow River."
With a grin I said, "No, I don't think I have."
"Oh. It's written by Ipee Freely."
Sometimes it's his jokes, and sometimes it's him mocking his dear wife a little bit. Grandma just giggles right along, but never forgets to slap him first. Really, she's a pretty good sport about it. My grandpa is a believer. His work and stress never seems to distract him from the things that really matter the most. He has his priorities straight. God first, no matter what. It's because of this that I look up to him as a role model.. he has all the qualities I want to have someday.
My grandpa went to heaven this year. After going through a couple surgeries like a champ, the doctors said there wasn't much time. It was rough for my family to see this awesome guy have to leave, but there is no doubt in my mind that he is doing all the things he wanted to in heaven because of his rock solid faith. My grandpa wanted to work. And be the handyman that he was. And now he is. Although I sometimes wish that I still had my loving buddy around, I know that heaven gained a guy that is loving every minute up there with God. Yes, my grandpa was a worker and still is. He's just upgraded. To heaven's handyman.

Princess Dawdle OUT.

HELLO TO THE BLOG WORLD!

Why hello all of you wonderful people! So I suppose this is my first and starting post of my new blog called Princess Dawdle Diaries. I should probably explain the name of my blog before I get going on my personality and all that jazz. So if some of you haven't read my mom's blog, I advise you to do so to understand the name and also because well, let's face it, she's a pretty legit blogger. For those of you who haven't quite made their way to her page, princess dawdle is my nickname. Apparently, I tend to spend my sweet time with everything I do or in other words, I "dawdle" around. I guess I should stop dawdling on that subject and get going on my personality so you people know who's talking to you. First off I wanna say that I am a Christian. I'm 16 and I do a lot of things in my spare time. An example would be music. I play alto saxophone, piano, vibes at a drum line (that my older siblings conduct), and I was trying to learn trombone from one of my older brothers, but that died out pretty quick considering, for some reason, brass instruments just aren't my thing. I also really enjoy spending time with friends and family. (cheesy, I know right?) If you don't know, I am the youngest out of four kids but to be honest, I like that for the most part. My family is pretty crazy and loud and my older sister is convinced that we should be called "the freaks of Beatrice".  My friends are pretty weird too. So that's me! I most likely will try posting at least once a week and I'll try to make it entertaining for your benefit. Thanks for reading and have a great week!

P.S. Here's a link to my mom's blog. I advise you read it.. because it's cool... and cool people read it... so yeah.
